ME Time – March 8

The March 8 session focused on a brief discussion of vipassana or insight meditation.

Vipassana is a Pali word meaning, “a special way of seeing”. Most commonly thought of as your intuition, this special way of seeing provides insight into the circumstances of your life.

This change in your perception is a consequence of physiological changes that take place in your body as a result of your meditation practice. Specifically, the way the nervous functions is altered. There is increased development and access to the executive functions which are high level functions associated with the frontal lobe of the brain. In addition, the nervous system changes from reactive to responsive.

The consequence of the neurological changes is that you feel more confident, calm and aware of the relevance of events as they occur.

Meditation provides many practical benefits.
