Body Composition Assessment: What does the number on the scale really mean? In regard to overall health, weight is not nearly as important as the composition of that weight. Stepping on a weight scale simply tells us the combined weight of all our body’s tissues. That weight may fluctuate throughout the day depending on the time of day, hydration status or what we are wearing. In contrast, body composition reveals the relative proportions of fat and lean mass in the body.
Body composition is estimated through circumference and skinfold measurements. Percent body fat is estimated by using calipers to measure skinfold thickness at various body sites on the body. The sum of 7 skinfolds taken at various sites is then converted to calculate percent body fat. The results from your body composition assessment can be used to identify risks, personalize your exercise program or evaluate how well your current exercise and nutrition program is working for you.
Program Design: If you have experience and the drive and motivation to get it done, but need new ideas or a specifically designed program, this option may be for you. After consulting with you about your goals, exercise history and other needs, our trainer will build your in-depth individual program and then lead you through it in a one hour hands-on training session.
One-on-One Training: Each one-hour session is a one-on-one training appointment, with the trainer instructing and motivating you to maximize your results. Have one of our knowledgeable and experienced trainers take you through a fun and challenging workout. Experience increased motivation, self-confidence, energy, and personal attention on an on-going basis.
Pair Training: Increase results and decrease the cost per person with pair training. Working out with a friend or co-worker might be just what you need to stay motivated and find more enjoyment in exercise.
Express Training (30 mins.): Are your daily demands making finding time to workout difficult. Maximize your time in the gym by hiring a trainer for 30 minutes at a time. These express one-on-one sessions may be just what you need to find that work/life balance.
Small Group Training: Working out as a group is an excellent way to help lower costs while still working towards your goals. Friends with similar fitness levels and goals will have a blast training together, as they’re taken through the paces by one of our PT staff.
Team Building: Small Group Training may also be used for team building. Allow us to customize a small group fitness class, Healthy Lifestyle or Weight Loss challenge for your team. Please contact the Wellness Centre for more information and rates.
A “Master Trainer” possesses a higher level of certification and typically has more years of experience. A “Personal Trainer”, while still highly qualified holds a base level certification & may have less experience.
